*Theme: The Ways, the Word and the Works of God*
*DAY 3 — R: Reverence for God*
📖 *Text: Proverbs 9:10*
_“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”_
The third way by which we can see God’s works is Reverence, i.e "WO *R* KS" *Reverence for God is one of the foundational pillars to experiencing His works in our lives.* To reverence God means to honour Him deeply, recognize His absolute authority, and approach Him with awe, humility, and obedience. It is more than outward religious activity; _it is an inward posture of the heart that acknowledges God’s holiness and sovereignty._ Many desire the blessings, power, and works of God, but few cultivate the reverence that sustains intimacy with Him. Throughout Scripture, men and women who walked closely with God were those who feared Him sincerely. It is written, _“The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.”_ (Psalm 25:14)
Many people often treat sacred things casually. *Worship has become entertainment for some, and obedience is sometimes replaced with convenience.* Yet God still seeks people who tremble at His Word. Isaiah 66:2 declares, _“…to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.”_ Reverence for God guards our hearts against pride, compromise, and disobedience. Joseph is a powerful example of reverence in action. When faced with temptation in Potiphar’s house, he refused to sin because he honoured God above temporary pleasure. He declared in Genesis 39:9, _“How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”_ Joseph understood that sin was not merely against man but against a holy God.
*The fear (reverence)of the Lord produces wisdom, discernment, and divine preservation.* Proverbs 14:27 says, _“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.”_ Reverence helps us avoid many traps because our desire is to please God above all else. It also attracts divine favor and protection. Cornelius, described as a devout man who feared God (Acts 10:2), became a recipient of divine visitation and transformation. *Wherever we reverence God, we welcome His presence and His mighty works are manifested.* Beloved, God still works mightily through those who reverence Him sincerely. May our lives become a dwelling place for His presence and a testimony of His mighty works.
🙌 Shalom!
🙏 *Let's pray:*
_My God and my Father, teach me to walk in holy reverence before You. Let my heart remain humble, obedient, and sensitive to Your Spirit. Help me to honour You in my thoughts, words, worship, and lifestyle. Remove every form of spiritual carelessness from my life, and let Your fear produce wisdom, purity, and intimacy within me. May my life continually attract Your presence and reflect Your glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen._
